Tuorinniemi Beach (2022)
HD video projection, silent, 7 min. Research Catalogue: video

Tuorinniemi Beach documents a performative action on the shore of the Baltic Sea during winter and spring. The work employs depainting, a physical image-alteration method I developed in which photographic pigment is manually removed from a printed photograph at the same location where the image was originally taken.

Filmed through repeated visits to the same site, the video explores the relationship between landscape, observation, and representation. As the image gradually disappears, attention shifts between the printed image, the surrounding environment, and subtle changes in light, weather, ice, water, and human activity.
