I am Mia Seppälä, a Finnish visual artist, artist-researcher, and educator. I work with photographs, painting, printed materials, performance, and moving image.
A photograph is often the starting point of my practice. I am interested in the relationships between images and places, and in how looking, time, and language shape the experience of images and environments. I develop my own methods of working with photographs, including depainting and verbal description.
